A life long Lutheran, Kevin was born to parents who are both Lutheran school teachers, and he was raised in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He attended Lutheran elementary school at Mt. Hope Redemption Lutheran School in Bloomington, Minnesota, and then Deshler Lutheran School in Deshler, Nebraska. Kevin graduated high school from Deshler Public High School and enrolled at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska; for his undergraduate degree. He graduated from Concordia University-Seward in the spring of 2006 with a bachelor degree in Secondary Education emphasizing in Biology and History, and a Lutheran Teaching Degree. That same summer, Kevin married his college sweetheart, Jill. Kevin and Jill have been married, have lived in Racine for five years and have two sons: a three-year-old son, Josiah, and a newborn, Micah. Kevin has been teaching at Racine Lutheran since the fall of 2006. This year; he teaches Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Genetics, Health, Theology II (Old Testament), and Zoology. Kevin is also the head coach for Track and Field.
