Rev. Patrick Ferry Ph.D, president of Concordia University Wisconsin, delivered the message at Chapel last week. He is pictured with two groups of students. Group one includes many of the seniors who have been accepted to CUW for next fall. The second group includes several of the juniors and seniors students who have enrolled in the Concordia Promise dual-credit program, allowing them to get a time- and cost-effective head start on college. Thank you, Dr. Ferry and CUW, for partnering with RLHS!

John Bleeke – Funeral information

John Bleeke, longtime faithful servant, teacher, and principal of Racine Lutheran High School, was taken home to spend eternity with Jesus on Feb. 1.

Bleeke was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2016.  After serving as teacher and principal at Redeemer Lutheran School in Denver, Colorado, for four years, he arrived in Racine in 1956.  He served as an English and social studies teacher, librarian, and yearbook advisor.  In 1969, he was called to be principal of RLHS, a position he held for 12 years.  During his tenure, the original mortgage was retired and a new addition was put on the school.  In 1981, he returned to the classroom and continued to serve the students at RLHS for an additional 10 years.

“Mr. Bleeke was a wonderful role model and supporter of our school,” stated David Burgess, RLHS executive director-principal.  “Whenever we met, he always reminded me to keep Jesus in our school.  I’m honored to have known him.”

Please pray for the Bleeke family as they mourn this loss as well as celebrate his final call and reunion with his beloved wife, Audrey.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie Street, on Friday, Feb. 3, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. or Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m.
