The Weekly News contains both NEW! entries for this week, as well as other important information that has been provided before, but still relevant.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE
NEW!
The Spring testing dates are coming up. Classes who are testing need to report to school that day. All other classes will have school virtually if they are not testing on those days.
- March 10–ACT for Juniors
- April 10–PreACT for Freshmen
- April 17–PreACT for Sophomores
Bus service will be available each day and students may leave when testing is complete (approximately noon).
In addition, the Sophomores will be taking the Forward Exam for Social Studies in their World History classes March 25-26.
These tests are required for all Racine Parental Choice Program students, and are offered free of charge to all private pay students. It is within your rights as parents/guardians to opt out of testing for your child. Students who opt out of testing will be responsible for attending class virtually on their designated testing day. To opt out, please state that intention in writing to Mr. Block no later than one week prior to their testing date. If written notification to opt out is not received at that time, your child will be required to proceed with testing.
Students who are absent during their testing day will miss regular class time to make up the exams, so please avoid absences on those days whenever possible.
If your child is absent on any given day, please make sure to contact the main office (office@racinelutheran.org) or the attendance line. If parents do not contact the school, absences are considered unexcused.
Research shows that about two-thirds of course failures are due to chronic absenteeism. Absenteeism is considered “chronic” when 10% or more of classes are missed. If your child has missed four or more days of school this semester, they fall into that category. Please help your child’s achievement improve by helping them with attendance. A reminder that students who miss a class period 20 times or more in a semester forfeit credit for that class.
Christ the King Lutheran Church (3350 LaSalle St.) is holding its annual pasty (meat pie) sale. To order, call Darlene Gorkowski at 262-498-8782. Orders would need to be picked up at the church between 1-4pm on March 7.
