The Weekly News contains both NEW! entries for this week, as well as other important information that has been provided before, but still relevant.
“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” Ps 145:18
NEW
Welcome Crusader family!
As we open the 2026-27 school year at Racine Lutheran High we are excited to focus our hearts on our school year theme: “Call on HIM.”
Our theme is grounded in the beautiful promise of Psalm 145:18: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”
For all of our Crusaders, a new school year brings exciting opportunities, but it can also bring moments of stress, academic challenges, and busy schedules. Remember that you never have to walk through these halls alone. Whether you are celebrating a victory on the field, navigating a tough exam, or facing a moment of doubt, simply Call on HIM. The Lord is ready to give you the wisdom, strength, and peace you need. Come to Him with an honest heart, and trust that He is always near.
Crusader parents, we thank you for entrusting us with your children’s education and spiritual growth. As we partner together in Faith, Learning, Character, and Leadership, we encourage you to join us in leaning on this year’s theme. Parenting through the high school years takes a village, but more importantly, it takes a firm reliance on God. When you face worries or choices regarding your student’s future, Call on HIM in prayer. He hears you and promises to guide your steps.
Let us move forward into this year with confidence, knowing that our Creator is close at hand every single day. We look forward to a blessed, safe, and joyful 2026-27 school year as we carry out our mission to prepare our students for lives of purpose in Christ.
Together In Christ,
Mr. Chris Nelson
Executive Director

RLHS VOLUNTEER/FAMILY SERVICE HOURS
Every family is expected to volunteer at least 20 hours of service each school year (July 1-June 30) to directly benefit RLHS. PLEASE NOTE- RLHS student responsibilities, commitments, and expectations that are part of a sport or club (NHS, Student Council, Student Ambassadors, team events) do not count toward the 20 RLHS service hours.
Thrift Shop Service Hours
We ask that six of those hours are spent volunteering at our Thrift Shop. The Thrift Shop is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and is looking for help during morning shifts (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) and afternoon shifts (1 p.m.- 4 p.m.). Students, parents, grandparents, and friends of RLHS are needed to sort, clean, price and display merchandise and work in the store. One adult and one student, or two adults, are needed for each shift. SATURDAY VOLUNTEERS ARE ESPECIALLY NEEDED!
Schedule Service Hours with the Thrift Shop at 1222 Lathrop Ave.
To sort, clean, price and/or help with incoming donations – call Pat Hellenberg 262.498.8851. To help with checkout/cashier – call Barb Tertel 262.632.1070.

Service Hours Bonuses
Once your family completes 20 hours, your student will receive a gift certificate for a free lunch at RLHS! Additionally, at the end of the school year, the three families with the most volunteer hours will be awarded a $50 credit to their RLHS school account, which can be applied toward various expenses such as lunch balance, athletic fee, yearbook, parking pass, and more!

New Athletics Registration Process for 2026-27 (UPDATED, PLEASE READ)
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to inform families of an important change to our athletics registration process. The athletic software company we have used in previous years is no longer in business, so Racine Lutheran will be transitioning to BOUND for all athletic registrations.
Beginning July 1, families may register for any Racine Lutheran athletic program through a BOUND Family Account.
To begin the registration process, visit our new athletic website: https://www.gobound.com/wi/schools/racineluth. From the homepage, click Registration and then select Activities.
Setting Up Your Account (UPDATED)
BOUND Parent Account Setup
All Racine Lutheran students in grades 9–12 have now been added to the BOUND system.
To register your student for athletics and complete required forms, parents/guardians must first claim their child by creating a BOUND account.
How to Claim Your Student
- Visit the BOUND Athletic Website and create a parent account.
- Follow the prompts to add your child.
- Complete the following steps:
- Step 1: Enter your child’s information.
- Step 2: Select Racine Lutheran as your organization.
- Step 3: Search for your child within the organization.
You can search for your student by either:
- Last Name, or
- Student ID
Your child’s Student ID can be found in your JMC Parent Account.
Once your student has been claimed, you will be able to complete athletic registrations, upload physical forms, and sign required documents electronically.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please contact the Racine Lutheran Athletic Office.
Once your child has been added, you may also add your spouse and any additional children to your family account.
Physicals and Required Forms
All physical forms will need to be uploaded directly into the BOUND system this year. Because this is our first year using BOUND, there will be no Alternative Year Cards accepted.
All remaining required athletic forms will be included within the registration process for each sport and will be completed through digital signatures.
To upload your child’s physical, please note that Page 4 of the WIAA Physical Card must be completed and signed by a physician. This is the page that will need to be uploaded into BOUND. If your child receives a physical this summer, please save Page 4 and keep it available until you register your child for athletics. If your child already has a current physical on file with Racine Lutheran, you may request a copy beginning June 16 by emailing Mr. Shaffer at sshaffer@racinelutheran.org.
We encourage all families to create their accounts and complete registrations as early as possible to ensure a smooth start to the athletic season. If you have any questions or need assistance with the registration process, please contact Mr. Shaffer. He will be happy to help families through this new registration process.
Volunteer Hours & Volunteer Sign-Up (UPDATED)
We are excited to announce another improvement with our new BOUND system! Beginning this school year, all family volunteer sign-ups and volunteer hour tracking will be managed through BOUND. We are moving away from JMC for volunteer management, making it easier than ever for families to sign up, record, and monitor their service hours.
What’s New?
- Sign up for volunteer opportunities directly through BOUND.
- Record your volunteer hours after completing your service.
- Track your family’s volunteer hours throughout the school year at any time.
- Enjoy greater transparency by viewing your accumulated hours whenever you log in—a feature many families have requested.
Getting Started
To access volunteer opportunities and record your hours, simply create a BOUND account if you haven’t already. Once your account is set up, you’ll be able to sign up for available volunteer positions and keep track of your family’s volunteer commitment all in one convenient location.
We appreciate the time and support our families provide to Racine Lutheran Athletics. Your willingness to volunteer helps make our events and programs a success!
*Game schedules are on the online school calendar which can be found here. Or click on the “Calendar” link on the school website. You may also sign up for notifications from the calendar site which will alert you to upcoming contests and schedule changes. Coaches contact information is also found on the calendar site.
*Our spirit wear page is on the school website. Look for the spirit wear link on our website. There will be a code at the top of the page for the latest deal for the week.
