Maddie Juga selected as Student of the Month – November

Racine Lutheran High School announces senior Madeleine Juga has been selected as the Student of the Month for November. The student of the month award is nominated by faculty. Students are nominated in light of the 2016-17 school year theme, “I Have Called You by Name”.

The nominating teacher shared:

Madeleine is a great example of leadership and respect. Her intuitive, discerning nature spurs her to be proactive when help is needed in class. She leads by example. Possessing a positive attitude and extremely dry wit, she keeps her instructors and peers on their toes. She is cognizant of her surroundings, and she is quick to follow directions and serves as a guide. Madeleine exemplifies former President Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt’s famous slogan: “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” Through her leadership and example of respect, she positively impacts those around her.

Racine Lutheran High School – Celebrating the gift of Christmas

By David Burgess, Executive Director/Principal

The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is peaking at Racine Lutheran High School. The month of December is spent preparing for the birth of our Savior, as well as getting ready for musical performances, athletic competitions and semester exams.

As our students seek success in each of these areas, we encourage them to concentrate on the joy revealed in Luke 2:12, which reads: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

When we focus on the arrival of the Son of God, we appreciate the blessing of the most amazing Christmas gift.

1,000 victories and counting

We will celebrate our boys basketball program’s milestone of 1,000 victories, which was earned on Dec. 6.

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, the school will formally acknowledge this accomplishment at 7 p.m., prior to the basketball game. Commemorative t-shirts will be provided to fans, while supplies last. Former players and coaches who contributed to the 1,000 victories are encouraged to attend and be recognized.

Veterans Project

We are honored to announce the creation of the RLHS Veterans Project.

The project began during the class of 1965’s 50th reunion. Classmates Bruce Canny and David Nass, both veterans, discussed how war had impacted them. During the ensuing weeks, Bruce shared a poem, Vietnam, They Ask, So What Was It Like?, which  he wrote about his tour of duty. David used his musical talents to transform the poem into a powerful piece titled Good-Bye, Good-Bye.

The pair hopes to honor other RLHS veterans who have given so unselfishly. The Veterans Project dedication ceremony will be held in May.

Help us gather the names of former students who have served our country. Visit RacineLutheran.org for more details.

Merry Christmas!

We invite you to enjoy our recently released Crusader Connection, which is filled with news about our students and alumni. Click on School News at RacineLutheran.org or call 637-6538 to be added to our mailing list.

Please prayerfully consider making an end-of-the-year donation to RLHS. Your generosity encourages our students to grow in faith, character, learning and leadership. Thank you for your support, and Merry Christmas!
